We are located right smack in the city centre, surrounded by quirky little shops, bars, cafés and museums. Kárastígur is a residential downtown side street only a few steps away from the main shopping street and the iconic Hallgrímskirkja church.
The church is Reykjavik's main landmark and its tower can be seen from almost everywhere in the city. It is located at the top of the shopping street Skólavörðustígur and Kárastígur is the first street to the right when you walk down that shopping street

Music venues, bars, cafés, museums, theaters, art galleries, craft shops, design shops, all kinds of shops, record stores, antique stores, vintage clothing stores, hot dog stands, noodle stations, fancy restaurants, flea markets, local celebrities out and about, the harbour, cinema, swimming pool, central bus station, tourist info, park benches, fire hydrants, you name it, all within a walking distance from Our House.
How to get to Our House from the airport:
You (can but) don´t have to book the airport transfer in advance you can catch the Flybus or the Airport Express right outside the terminal at Keflavik Airport and it will take you to Reykjavik in 40 minutes.
The Airport Express is cheaper and more convenient as they drop you off right outside if you give them our address
The Flybus makes a final stop at BSI Bus Terminal in the center of Reykjavik a 10-15 minute walk from Our House. From the terminal you can’t help but see Hallgrimskirkja church so you can just head straight for it. When you get there you should start walking down the shopping street Skólavörðustígur and Kárastígur will be the first street on your right.
But as the walk is uphill and difficult when you have luggage you may want to buy the slightly more expensive Flybus + ticket so you can board a smaller bus at the terminal that will take you to some of the major hotels. We are NOT a major hotel so they won’t drop you off at our doorstep but they will drop you off at Hotel Leifur Eiríksson’s doorstep which is right in front of the church and you can take it from there. Walk down Skólavörðustígur and you'll soon see Kárastígur to your right. You could also take a very short taxi ride from the Bus terminal to Our House but we wouldn’t recommend taking a taxi all the way from Keflavik airport, it’s pretty expensive.
Even though you don´t have to book the transport from the airport in advance it´s neccessary to book the transport back to the airport if you want a pick-up. It´s not neccessary if you take the Flybus from the bus station. You are supposed to be at the airport 2 hours before your flight so it´s good to book the pickup 3 hours before your flight takes off
If you are going to rent a car you should know that there is only one free parking space that belongs to the guesthouse. There is paid parking in our street and all over the city centre but you can get lucky and snag a free one nearby if you are patient.
